It depends how much sightseeing you’re keen to do. If you’re happy to kick it on one of the beaches and generally stick to that area, you could get away with three or four days. Phuket has a tropical monsoonal climate, which means there’s a dry and a rainy season. The best time to visit Phuket is from December through to March for blue skies and cool breezes.

A holiday to Phuket can be as relaxed or as jam-packed as you would like it to be. You can claim a sun bed and spend blissful hours sipping and dipping, partake in some watersports, eat your way around the local restaurants, and then, for a little fun, head to Bangla Road. When you need a break from the sun and sand, head inland to explore the jungle with thrilling white-water rafting adventures, animal sanctuaries and waterfalls aplenty. Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to the best places to stay, whether you’re on a budget or you’re keen to splash the cash for something a little more luxe. Patong is a major tourist hub with the widest array of places to eat, drink and party. Karon Beach is ideal for families seeking something a little quieter than Patong, while Kata and Nai Harn offers a refreshing change of pace from some of the busier beaches. For a luxury getaway, look to Surin and Bangtao. 

Lightweight and comfortable clothing, sunscreen and insect repellent are a great idea alongside modern travel essentials including wet wipes and hand sanitiser. We recommend packing light so you can find reasons to hit the shops.

Phuket a tropical paradise lined with stretches of golden beaches, jungles, shops, restaurants and vibrant nightlife. Head to Patong for the party vibes, or escape to the village of Nai Harn for a more peaceful experience. Head to Old Phuket Town to explore the rich culture and history, or if you’re up for a little island hopping, take a boat to the beautiful Phi Phi Islands or Koh Samui.
