The Garden District boasts historic mansions while Marigny is where you’ll find jazz bars lining the streets.

Your appetite for adventure and fun. Perhaps, more specifically, pack  a rain jacket because it tends to rain often in New Orleans and some comfortable shoes for all of that bar hopping.

If you’re keen to experience the magic of the French Quarter, sip your way along Bourbon Street, devour po’ boys, get a taste of authentic creole culture and get swept up in the jazz scene, allow a minimum of four to five days. This is definitely one place you want to linger a little longer.

Summer in New Orleans can be summed up in two words – hot and wet. The rest of the year, however, is fairly mild and pleasant. The most popular (but also the most expensive) time to visit is for Mardi Gras, so if you’re travelling in February, be prepared for busy. For the majority of folk, the best time to visit New Orleans is between March and May and then again from October to November.

Hit the pavement on a two-wheeler to explore the neighbourhood, go bar hopping, check out live jazz, dance like nobody's watching, learn about Voodoo at The Voodoo Spiritual Temple (not the bootleg gift shops that exist to lure tourists), eat po’ boys, treat yourself to a taste of Creole and Cajun flavour, devour beignets, take the streetcar, experience the magic of Mardi Gras, do a swamp tour, shop Magazine Street, take a ghost tour, the list is endless!
