Indeed it is! The majority of the city centre is accessible by foot but two-wheelers are the preferred mode of transport for locals in Portland. No need to bring your own as there’s a bike share program. The rest of the city areas are accessible via Portland’s public transport network.

Portland’s peak travel season is between June and August. Summer in Portland is a pretty spectacular time of year when the Portland roses are in bloom, the city is alive with events and the days are blissfully warm, just be prepared for sudden rain showers. If you don’t mind the cold, you can often nab some bargains during the winter months.

Take a hike (literally) in Forest Park, embark on a walking tour around the city, experience Portland’s world-renowned foodie scene, browse the largest independent and used bookstore in the world, sip from the source at the local breweries, treat yourself to a donut tour (they take their donuts pretty seriously here in Portland), stop and smell the roses at the International Rose Test Garden, zen out in the Japanese Garden, follow your nose to the food trucks, get weird at The Freakybutture Pexuliarium and Museum, meander around the Portland Art Museum, head out of town to see the Columbia River Gorge, and, of course, visit the Keep Portland Weird sign. One thing’s for certain, you definitely won’t be bored in Portland.
