San Antonio Holiday Deals

The historically significant Alamo is San Antonio’s most popular attraction. During Texas’ war for independence from Mexico, a group of Texans occupied the Alamo for 13 days. Although they lost the battle, the Alamo has become a symbol of resistance against oppression. Other must-see sites include the bustling Riverwalk, the San Antonio Zoo, the San Antonio Missions, the Natural Bridge Caverns, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and the list goes on!  

Texas on the whole is pretty casual. A good pair of jeans, layers and comfortable shoes will get you through most situations. If you do plan to hit the fine diners, perhaps throw in a couple of evening outfits. The rest will depend on the time of year you plan to travel. 

If you’re looking for convenience, Downtown makes the ideal base as it’s super close to many of the city’s cultural attractions, museums and restaurants. If you’re in the mood to party, Southtown and La Villita are known for their nightlife while Northwest is ideal for families. If you’re looking for a great all-rounder that’s got its fair share of boutiques, cafes, bars and historic buildings, Pearl is it.

San Antonio is a city steeped in history. Founded as a Spanish mission in 1718, the city became the first civil settlement in what is now the state of Texas. Its fascinating history is peppered throughout the city, including its most-famous landmark attraction, the Alamo. 

This all depends on what brings you to San Antonio in the first place. If you’re looking to get outdoors and don’t mind the extreme heat, May through to August might be your ideal time to visit. If you prefer things slightly less steamy, January to April is party season. The much-loved San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo falls in February but the real party happens in April for Fiesta. There’s also something pretty special about San Antonio in winter. 

Spend sun-soaked days sipping and snacking your way along the pedestrian-only San Antonio Riverwalk, check out the largest Mexican market in the United States where you’ll find everything from new boots to specialty souvenirs, get a new perspective of the city at the Tower of the Americas observation deck, check out the rodeo if it’s in town, roll out a rug and picnic in one of San Antonio’s many parks, get up close with furry friends at the San Antonio Zoo, get amongst nature at the Natural Bridge Caverns or get the heart rate up at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. One thing's for certain, you definitely won’t be bored in San Antonio!
