From Acadia to Zhangjiajie, here's where to go for your next outdoor adventure.
Exploring cities is great, but you can also learn a lot about a destination by venturing outside and visiting a national park. Created and protected by governments, national parks are filled with breathtaking landscapes, difficult hiking trails and rare wildlife. And the best part is that they can be found everywhere; nearly 100 countries have lands classified as national parks.
With that in mind, we’ve created an A–Z guide of the best national parks around the world. From Acadia National Park in Maine to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Hunan we’ve sourced a park for (almost) every letter of the alphabet — and have shared some of the top things to see, do and experience in each one.

In 2008, Jökulsárgljúfur National Park and Skaftafell National Park were merged to create one very big (approximately 14,000km2) outdoor playground. In it, you’ll find basically every natural wonder you can think of — from glaciers and ice caves to volcanoes.
