1. Warwick Le Lagon, Vanuatu - Best Luxury Resort

If you're planning a Vanuatu family holiday, Warwick Le Lagon Resort is an awesome choice. Located by Erakor Lagoon, this stunning resort is set up in lush tropical gardens but is still close to Port Vila for when you want to go exploring.

The resort is massive, so there's plenty of space for everyone to spread out and do their own thing. And when the kids are ready to hit the pool, they'll be stoked to find a huge swimming pool that's perfect for splashing around in.

But the fun doesn't stop there. The resort also offers loads of family-friendly activities, like kayaking, snorkelling, and paddle boarding. And if you're looking for something to keep the little ones entertained, the kids club is perfection. They'll have a blast making new friends and participating in organised activities while you sneak off for some much-needed R&R or get a massage at the day spa.

When it comes to food, Warwick Le Lagon - Vanuatu has got the goods with 3 different restaurants and bars. They've got casual poolside snacks (accompanied by a cocktail or two), as well as some fine dining options for when you want to dress up and enjoy a nice meal. And the best part? The food is seriously delicious, with a focus on local South Pacific flavours and ingredients. We particularly love their popular seafood buffet at the Lagoon Terrace Restaurant every Friday night - yum!

In terms of rooms, they have some great options from budget-friendly Garden View Rooms (including interconnecting rooms) to super luxurious Overwater Villas. Their Lagoon Bungalow options are quite popular as well, where you get your own standalone bungalow with private balcony and direct access to the lagoon. Or for something truly luxurious, they even have a choice of 2 Pool Villas with your own private outdoor pool and amazing views over the lagoon.

2. Iririki Island Resort & Spa Vanuatu - Best Private Island Resort

Iririki Island Resort & Spa is another awesome resort for families in Vanuatu. The resort's most amazing feature is that it is located on its very own private island, so you'll feel like you're really getting away from it all.

It's only a 3-minute ferry ride from Port Vila, so access is nice and easy. And the island is surrounded by crystal-clear waters, a private beach and beautiful scenery, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy some quality time with the fam.

The resort has a ton of great amenities that are perfect for active families. There is a cool four-tier swimming pool, an awesome playground, two tennis courts, free bicycles to roam around the island, beach volleyball, a games room with table tennis, pool table, foosball, and more.

Water sports are included for free too to make the most of the beautiful beach, like snorkelling (and there are great spots to snorkel in the lagoon around the island), kayaks and even catamarans.

Another great feature is the free kids club, for children aged 3 to 12 years old, open from 8am to 4:30pm every day, where the kids can participate in all sorts of activities, like arts and crafts, nature walks, outdoor games, etc.

For young kids, aged under 3, the resort offers babysitting services for roughly NZ$20 per hour (please note this is just an estimate, as prices and currency exchange will fluctuate).

In terms of accommodation, the resort offers a variety of rooms to suit different family sizes and budgets. The Deluxe Pool View Rooms are great, being located close to the pool and they all have a private jacuzzi on the balcony which is a fantastic addition. Otherwise we recommend the Deluxe Family Faré, which are much bigger, with a separate room for the kids and views over Port Vila harbour.

Overall, Iririki Island Resort & Spa is definitely one of the best family resorts Vanuatu has to offer.

3. Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu - Best Family Rooms

Another great family-friendly accommodation is the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu in Port Vila as well, located on a stunning beachfront by Erakor Lagoon and set in lush tropical gardens.

There are two swimming pools - one is reserved for quiet relaxation (best without the kids!) and the other one is where the fun takes place, with a great a paddling pool for young kids, a cute mushroom waterfall and fun tipping buckets.

The Holiday Inn offers all sorts of activities like paddle boarding, beach soccer, tennis courts, beach volleyball, catamaran and more. Plus of course there's a day spa for the adults too.

They also offer a kids club for children aged 3 to 12 years old, open daily, for the full day from 9am to 9pm, where kids will be entertained with arts and crafts, like basket weaving, skirt making or coconut painting, games and an on-site play area. For kids under 3, the resort offers babysitting services as well (at an extra cost).

When it comes to food, again there are plenty of options (even for fussy eaters!) with a restaurant and 2 bars. The Verandah Restaurant is great for all-day dining and offers awesome views over the lagoon. But the highlight when it comes to dining is their fantastic Fire Night Dinner on Thursday nights, where you get to eat right on the beach and enjoy an impressive fire show by the talented ‘Vanua Fire’ performance group.

And when it comes to rooms, this resort wins hands down for the best family rooms! Our favourite are the Family Suites, which are seriously really cool! Hear us out: these rooms have a king bed in the middle for the adults, and above it, is an amazing tree-house bunk beds, which is something really unique and fun for the kids. They even have bean bags in the room, a Nemo-themed private bathroom and the kids also have their own TV up in their tree-house! Or if you're looking to really treat the family, check out their Overwater Family Villas located on the resort’s private Erongo Island - now that's pretty cool!

4. Ramada Resort by Wyndham, Port Vila - Best Beachside Self-Contained Apartments

Ok, so where else you say? Well, let me tell you about the Ramada Resort Port Vila and why it is one of the best family resorts in Vanuatu.

First off, the resort is located in a beautiful setting, nestled on the cliffs of Erakor Lagoon with spectacular views over the lagoon, complete with a private beach (with nice white sand).

The lovely lagoon-style swimming pool offers great views over the beach, a kids pool and there's even a swim up bar for the adults!

If you're looking for even more fun and adventure, the resort has a variety of water sports and activities that you can enjoy with the family, like snorkelling, kayaking and paddle boarding. And at night, you can enjoy one their fun evening cultural shows, like fire dance, water music or cultural dances, throughout the week.

But the best thing about this resort is that all rooms are self-contained apartments, meaning that they all come with a fully equipped kitchen, which is a great option for families (and for your wallet!), so you can easily give the kids their meals in the comfort of your room and you don't always have to dine out.

The Ramada offers Studio Rooms or if you can, we recommend you upgrade to a two-bedroom apartment which is a lot more spacious with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, separate lounge and dining room, full kitchen, laundry facilities and all of that with views over the lagoon from an extra large balcony.

5. The Terraces Boutique Apartments, Vanuatu - Best for Families with Older Kids

Last but not least, we also love the Terraces Boutique Apartments Vanuatu. With only 16 clifftop self-contained apartments, it's a top-notch spot for a luxurious and relaxing stay in Port Vila, overlooking Erakor Lagoon.

One thing we must highlight first though, is that they have a policy of no children under five, so this is not a resort for young families. However it is a great choice for families with older kids looking to stay in a luxury boutique apartment.

Our favourite feature at The Terraces has to be the infinity pool – seriously, it's stunning. With sweeping views of the harbour, comfy lounge chairs and even an overwater cabana, you'll feel like you're living the high life. Plus, food and beverages can be delivered poolside so you can sip on a tasty cocktail or grab a light bite while you soak up the sun.

In terms of rooms, we recommend staying in their two-bedroom apartment as they are seriously spacious, set across two levels, with a full kitchen and big living and dining area. But the highlight of these apartment is that you get your own private plunge pool which will be sure to be a hit with the kids (and the parents too!).

The Terraces also offers a bunch of other great amenities, like a fitness centre or an in-room massage service bringing the spa straight to your room.

And although they do not have a restaurant on site, there is a popular restaurant right next door, Mangoes Restaurant, which the hotel works with, where you can go for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or even order room service if you don't feel like leaving your gorgeous apartment.
